Medical Weight Loss
Weight loss, approached medically. If you’ve done the work and the results haven’t followed, there may be a physiological reason. This is where we look for it, and where we build a plan around what we actually find.
What It Is
Medical weight loss is a clinician-led approach that begins with understanding why weight loss has been difficult, not assuming you haven’t tried hard enough. Hormonal imbalance, metabolic dysfunction, medication effects, sleep disruption and other factors all influence body weight in ways that effort alone can’t override.
We look at the full picture. Then we build a plan.
What The Plan May Include
Every patient is different. A medical weight loss plan at Essential Injectables may include:
- Comprehensive lab work to identify contributing factors
- GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy (where clinically appropriate and safely prescribed)
- Nutritional and lifestyle guidance built around your actual life
- Peptide or hormonal support where relevant
- Ongoing monitoring and dose adjustment
We don’t hand patients a prescription and send them away. The follow-up is part of the treatment.
On GLP-1 medications GLP-1 receptor agonists, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, have meaningful clinical evidence behind them for weight management in appropriate patients. They are also widely overprescribed, poorly supervised, and too often stopped without a plan for what comes next.
We prescribe them when the indication is clear, the patient has been properly assessed, and a longer-term plan is in place. We do not prescribe them on demand.
How a Visit Unfolds
Full intake and health history. Lab work requested where needed before starting any medication. A written plan that explains what we’re doing and why. Regular follow-up with dose adjustments based on your response. An honest conversation about timelines, expectations and what happens when the active phase ends.
Honest Expectations
Medical weight loss is not fast by the standards most patients hope for, and it is not permanent without lifestyle change. What it can do, with the right diagnosis and the right support, is remove the physiological obstacles that have made progress harder than it should be.
Patients who do best are those who come in ready to engage with the full plan, not just the prescription.
Common Questions
Do I qualify for GLP-1 medications?
That depends on your BMI, health history, and a few other factors we assess at consultation. We’ll give you a straight answer.
What if medication isn't right for me?
Then we build a plan without it. The goal is a result, not a prescription.
How long will I need to be on medication?
That varies significantly. We discuss this honestly at the outset and revisit it throughout your care.
Will I regain the weight when I stop?
That’s a real risk with any weight loss intervention, and we plan around it from the beginning. Stopping medication is a phase of the plan, not an afterthought.
